Instructions for using Tarot Journal app

The latest version in AppStore is 3.16, please update if you are on an earlier version

Tap on a section for further information. This user manual will be updated and any changes will show in your app without any need to update the app

v3.11 and later now supports syncing via iCloud if you are using iOS 14 or later. All readings, querents, spreads, card sets, images, keywords and keyword-tests will be synced to your other iOS devices via iCloud. If you make changes on one device those changes will update other devices - the delay before updates may vary depending on internet connection etc.
You may initially get duplicated spreads - this can be resolve by deleted one of the duplicate spreads and readings using that spread can moved to the duplicated one. Some duplicate spreads may not be used in any readings so can just be deleted.

+Cards

This view lets you browse all the cards grouped by Major / Minor Arcana and Court Cards.

You can search for cards by name or keyword.

Tap on a card to view the keywords, and if you have enabled reverse cards you can invert it using the button top right.

When viewing a card detail you can swipe to the previous/next card in the category you are viewing.

You can share cards to other apps on your iPhone. When sharing the image the keywords are copied to the clipboard so you can then paste them into the app you shared the image to.

+Daily

This view shows if the option is enabled in Settings.

It shows the random card that was shown for each day you started the app.

You can add notes to the Journal if you wish to record anything that happened that day relevant to the card.

You can share the Journal as HTML or PDF.

+Readings

This view shows your readings you have done for your Querents.

If you have reversed cards enabled you can reverse a card in the spread by selecting the card then swiping up/down, or on iPad tap the ↑↓ button in the title bar.

Additional cards can be entered, if for example a card drops out whilst shuffling the real pack.

Random will deal a random spread.

You can share readings as HTML or PDF.

+Querents

This view lets you view and edit/add Querents which you can then use to create readings for

Deleting a Querent will also delete all readings you have done for that Querent

+Card Sets / Keywords

This view lets you manage the keywords for each card and create your own card sets.

You can edit the keywords for a card and if you have reverse cards enabled you can enter different keywords for the card in reverse.

If you change any keywords it will affect all readings that have that card in

You can create your own card sets and enter keywords specific to each set and set images for your own card sets using the iPhone camera or using files from iCloud or Photo Library. For more information click here

+Spreads

This view lets you create and edit spreads.

When editing or creating a new spread you can add as many cards as you like and set the position for each card in the spread.

You can enter a meaning for each position of a card in the spread.

Tap on a card in the spread to make it a sideways card, tap again to change to upright.

Drag/drop a card to move it's position, and use the Scale button to change how large the cards are - you will need to reduce the scale the more cards are in the spread

+Learn Keywords

This lets you study and identify cards visually with clues from the keywords.

You will shown the keywords from 10 cards and you can pick the card you think those keywords refer to. Tap on the card to select what card you think has those keywords.

For each card you can ask for a hint, pass or confirm the card you pick. The hint will be part of the cards image.

Your score will be given at the end.

You can delete previous tests using the normal swipe to delete iPhone function.

On iPad this is available from the Learn option on the Keywords view. On iPhone is it on the More tab.

+Settings

Allow Reversed Cards: Enable this option if you use different keywords for upside down cards.; If enabled you can flip cards when creating readings by tapping the card in the spread so it highlights then swiping from top to bottom or bottom to top on the card.; You can also enter different keywords for cards in the reversed position.
Reading Template: This allows you to change the headers and footers used when sharing readings.
Random Daily Readings: If enabled then each day you start the app you will be presented with a random card.; The cards can be viewed in the Daily Journal view (this view only shows if this option is enabled).; You can enter a question and notes for each Daily Journal, eg enter notes about why the card was relevant for the day.
App start up card: If Random Daily Readings option is disabled, then you can select which card shows when you start the app using this option.
Deal Tarot Card (iOS 13.4+): If enabled this allows you to ask Siri to 'Deal Tarot Card'
Find Tarot Card (iOS 13.4+): If enabled this allows you to ask Siri to 'Find Tarot Card' then speak a keyword or card name
New Tarot Reading (iOS 13.4+): If enabled this allows you to ask Siri 'New Tarot Reading' to create a new reading
